Who am I?

My picture

Well, I suppose that now that you're here, you want to know a little bit about me. Fair enough.

I live in Canada (specifically in Victoria, British Columbia), and I am a 27-year-old university student. I graduated in May of 2004 from Mount Allison University with a BSc (Honours) in Physics, a Computer Science Major, and a Minor in Mathematics. I have been enrolled at the University of Victoria since September of 2004 as a graduate student in Astronomy. I plan to complete my M. Sc. by the end of August 2008.

Thus far, my graduate work has involved studying Damped Lyman Alpha (DLA) systems, looking for a number of clues about their physical environment. DLAs are galaxy-scale systems located on the sight-line towards more distant quasars (think of the light from the quasar passing through a galaxy on its way to us). If you would like more information about my research, see either my research page or my publications page.

I have been reading science fiction for most of my life, and playing wargames for several years now. Naturally, I am quite interested in combining the two, and so I have spent quite some time playing and discussing science fiction wargames.

It has been said that every game player is a frustrated game designer, and I am certainly no exception to that. In fact, my main reason for putting up this page was to make available the preliminary version of my own endeavour(s) in the field of science fiction wargaming....

Finally, I am a proud member of the Society for the Conservation of Angular Momentum.

I suppose that if you want to know anything else about me you'll simply have to e-mail me.
